Key Components of Treatment

Medical Services
New Hope provides comprehensive medical services through an array of medical providers. We contract with board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists, as well as family practitioners, to provide medical services         on site up to seven days a week and to provide on-call, emergency back-up services 24 hours a day.

At admission and annually, patients receive an complete physical. Patients also receive bi-annual dental screening and cleanings, annual vision, speech, and hearing screenings, and access to an on-site medical clinic three days a week for injuries or sick visits, all included in the per diem. New Hope contracts with 24-hour urgent care centers, hospitals and emergency rooms for more advanced medical requirements. And a full array of community based ancillary medical specialists and dental providers are available to patients.

Upon admission, a registered nurse provides a comprehensive health assessment on each patient. Also, one of our psychiatrists conducts a comprehensive psychiatric admission evaluation and then meets with the  patient a minimum of every seven days or earlier if needed. Physicians regularly participate in weekly treatment team meetings to review progress and provide guidance for treatment planning and milieu interventions. At admission, immunizations are updated, and all patients are offered yearly flu vaccines.
Each New Hope location contracts with a local pharmacy that delivers medications daily, provides staff training, and audits patient medication records.

Medical case management and transportation for medical care are also essential functions of the medical department. The Medical Services Team meets regularly to coordinate the care of the patients, oversee policy and procedure development, and facilitate performance improvement initiatives for medical care. New Hope provides round-the-clock nursing care by registered nursing staff and LPNs. Nurses attend weekly treatment teams to assure effective communication toward the holistic care of the patient.
