New Hope Carolinas in the community

July 26, 2021 Uncategorized

On June 30th staff from our Recreation Therapy Department participated in a wonderful community service event organized and lead by Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Second Harvest selects a local school every day (5 days a week) and sets up a system to distribute needed food and meals to families.  The schools identified are ones that have a high free/reduce lunch student population.  Our team helped out by bagging food and handing out the bags to cars of families as they made their way through the receiving line.  These events operate rain or shine, as you can see from the picture below.  Despite the heavy rains, it was a wonderful day for our staff to assist families in need.

We truly appreciate the great work being done by the folks at Second Harvest and we are proud of the effort of our Recreation Therapy Department.  Helping and serving others is a core part of our company’s values, summed up nicely by our Rec Therapy Director Dolly Williams, “I think this is an awesome benefit of working for the company.  Serving others is what we do”.
