New Hope Hero – Mr. Chris Tyson

Please meet Mr. Chris Tyson.  Former Residential Counselor, newly appointed Maintenance Team Member, all-time Hero at New Hope Carolinas.  Mr. Tyson is the person who will get the job done no matter what it is, how challenging it might be, with a smile on his face and a skip in his step.

The non-stop operation of our 150 bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center requires the expertise of many staff members, across many disciplines. There can be no mistake about it, the maintenance discipline is as important as any other discipline in our setting.

Mr. Tyson began his career at New Hope working directly with the youth as a Residential Counselor (RC).   After years of successful service as an RC and demonstrating an outstanding work ethic, he was recruited by our Physical Plant Director to join the maintenance team.  Since his move over, he has become an outstanding maintenance team member, developing the technical skills required to ensure our environment of care is safe and secure for staff and kids, while being available to assist in a direct care role as needed.

His infectious positive attitude has made him a favorite of both kids and staff.  Some of his favorites words of wisdom are:

“If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you”

“If you are determined to learn no one can stop you”

“ The only time you should look back is to see how far  you have come”
