Hiring from Within: New Hope Tabs Next Director of Residential Operations
Rock Hill, S.C., April 18, 2025 – After nearly six months of searching, New Hope Treatment Center’s didn’t need to go far to find the new Director of Residential Operations for our PRTF in Rock Hill, SC.
Curtis Barnes was one of the leaders that filled the role on an interim basis over the last six months, agreeing, without hesitation, to take on the responsibilities. As of April 17, 2025, that role is permanent for Mr. Barnes. Curtis has 20 years of service at New Hope and has grown into a remarkable leader. He embodies every one of our EPIC values.
“I feel honored to have shared the last three years with Curtis and I look forward to many more,” said COO, Matt Simon, MA, LMFT. “I know change can be scary but I promise, the scariest thing for a company isn’t change, it’s actually stagnation. Gratefully, New Hope couldn’t be further from stagnation right now. We are thriving, growing, evolving, innovating and setting ourselves up for decades to come of continued impact.”
In this role, Curtis will be overseeing the Residential Directors directly, as well as some of the Team Supervisors. Curtis, along with our Executive Director, Nathan Hynek, will continue to evaluate our residential organizational structure to make sure we have all the right pieces and people in place to have the best program on the planet.
“I’m truly humbled and honored to step into the role of Director of Residential Operations,” said Barnes. “When I started this journey on 2005, I had no idea where it would take me, but I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be. This place, and the people in it, have shaped not only my career but who I am as a person. The support, challenges, and growth I’ve experienced here have been nothing short of life-changing. I want to thank the leadership team for their trust in me, and all of my colleagues who have walked alongside me over the years. Your belief in me has meant more than words can express.”
Curtis attended Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., where he received his Bachelor of Arts. He began his career working with youth at Keystone Adolescent Center in Greenville, Pa., where he held a counselor position for three years. He later relocated to Uniontown, Pa., and took a program lead role at Adelphoi Village in Latrobe, Pa. In 2005, he moved to Charlotte and began his work at New Hope Carolinas. Throughout Curtis’ years at New Hope, he has held multiple positions, consistently moving up in leadership. Devoted to his impact on the facility’s youth, he is a true backbone of the New Hope community. He’s proud of his nearly 30 years working with kids and families and remains enthusiastic about the futures of each young person he comes in contact with.
“To say I’m excited for what’s ahead would be an understatement,” said Barnes. “I look forward to continuing to grow, lead, and serve with the same heart and commitment that brought me here nearly 20 years ago. Let’s keep pushing forward together, building something greater each day.”
