New Hope Adds Three New Therapists

January 13, 2025 New Hope Happenings

Rock Hill, S.C., January 13, 2025 – New Hope Treatment Center’s welcomed three therapists to enhance the expanding community-based services of the Bridge and Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) Programs.

Melanie Hoke was hired as an MST Therapist, while Ke’shae Mitchell and Shamira Coates were hired as Transition Therapists. They all bring extensive experience and a strong passion for helping kids and families.

Hoke is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving at the cusp of the historical events of 9/11. During wartime, she also dedicated two years of service overseas. While deployed in Korea and Japan, she felt the need to move onward and attend college. She was honorably discharged and enrolled at The Art Institute of Philadelphia.

After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Marketing, Melanie was accepted into Temple University and completed her master’s degree in counseling psychology in 2015. This is where she gained her experience in the mental health field as a Drug and Alcohol intern. She later counseled for a Psychiatric Rehabilitation program that gave her a broader scope of how multiple lives are affected when mental health is not addressed early on. Melanie is currently seeking to obtain licensure as she builds upon her skills and continues to serve the country as a reservist.

Mitchell is a proud alumna of Johnson C. Smith University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Dance and Criminology, as well as a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, Ms. Mitchell holds an Esthetics certification, reflecting her passion for promoting mental health, beauty, and overall wellness.

Ke’shae’s professional experience spans working with children, preteens, young adults, and adults, enabling her to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. She has been privileged to support children, preteens, and families as they navigate personal challenges, offering compassionate care and guidance.

“I believe that everyone needs an outlet to express themselves and discover their path in life,” said Mitchell. “With time, consistency, determination, and understanding, I am confident that anything is possible. My goal is to bring peace and equip clients with tools to navigate life’s obstacles successfully. I am deeply committed to empowering others and am eager to continue making a difference in a role that allows me to apply my strong work ethic, dedication, and love for continuous learning”.

Coates has had the privilege of interacting with a diverse array of people from various cultural backgrounds and different walks of life. Over the course of 17 years, she has dedicated herself to providing essential services and has been a member of supporting staff in both residential and facility-based environments. These experiences have broadened her perspective and significantly enhanced her interpersonal skills, allowing her to connect with individuals on a deeper level.

To further her commitment to this field, Shamira pursued and obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Columbia Southern University. This academic journey equipped Coates with a solid foundation of knowledge and understanding.

“I am eager to expand my education and practical experience to make an even more significant impact in the lives of those I serve,” said Coates. “These experiences will help me prepare for an important role on the Bridge Program. My passion for helping others, particularly those with mental and behavioral health challenges, has grown stronger over time. I find fulfillment in supporting these individuals as they navigate their unique struggles, and I am dedicated to promoting their well-being”.
