New Hope’s First Therapeutic Home Reaches One Year Mark

February 26, 2025 New Hope Happenings

Rock Hill, S.C., February 26, 2025 – New Hope Treatment Center’s officially celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Dallas, NC Therapeutic Home, known as NHNC1.

New Hope’s expansion into North Carolina officially began in the fall of 2023, when the home opened its doors. The first youth served was on Feb. 21, 2024. The program was designed to offer a unique solution
to the growing nationwide crisis impacting adolescents in the child welfare system. Presenting an alternative to life in shelters, hotels and county offices, the program focused on providing short-term stabilization and intensive treatment in a small, therapeutic home settings.

The goal was to change the narrative not only of what group homes are but how children in the system perceive and interact with adults. Through the power of relationships and the impact that a caring adult has on the life of a child, New Hope created an environment for the youth we serve where that
relationship launches them into success.

With the leadership of Residential Director in NC, Dr. Malisa S. Shuler, PsyD., and her outstanding team, NHNC1 helped shape the lives of 11 young females who came through the doors and successfully completed the program during the first year.

“It has been such a pleasure working alongside New Hope NC1, Inc. to catapult such an amazing program where young girls are able to find experience healing in ways they may have not known they needed,” said Tiana Roberts. “As a therapist, it has been inspiring to witness the resilience and strength these young ladies exude to triumph over their temporary circumstance. To witness successful discharges and family reunification has been such an amazing experience. I can’t wait to see what the future hold for NHNC1 and the families that will be touched by the program.”

NHNC staff, Rock Hill leaders and West Virginia staff shared their thoughts on the milestone:
