The Transformations program offers a clinically intensive, trauma-focused residential program for adolescent females with significant mental health, para- suicidal behaviors, substance abuse, and/or behavior-management difficulty. Programming includes an array of traditional and non-traditional therapeutic interventions within a Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) framework, and utilizes Kinesthetics and other physical and sensory-based interventions. The program facilitates personal development that inspires lasting positive change and restoration of healthy emotional and/or behavioral functioning.
For those that qualify, Prime for Life,® an evidence based motivational prevention and intervention model designed to change drinking and drug behaviors, complements the Transformations program. Through youth and family centered weekly group treatment, youth and families openly explore and examine the choices that affect their lives in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
Our clinical and administrative staff have also completed an extensive training in trauma-informed treatment of victims of sex trafficking and exploitation - including but not limited to prostitution, pornography, sex tourism, mail order bride, adolescent marriage (generally to older men), performance in sexual venues such as strip clubs, survival sex, private parties, massage parlors, gang-based prostitution, and Internet-based exploitation. Our treatment programs go beyond addressing the trauma – they look at the dynamics that created the risk for them initially as well as continuing risk factors throughout life. We rely on the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy’s (DBT) core philosophy of validation and acceptance to enhance victims’ coping strategies.
