Promoting Racial Equality
In memory of our founder, the late Dr. George Orvin, whose career was centered on helping others, especially those facing significant challenges to become the best version of themselves, New Hope Treatment Centers initiated its first Dr. George Orvin Scholarship. It is our hope that his scholarship offers an opportunity for a college education to an African-American family member of a New Hope employee who may not have had otherwise.
With this being the first year of offering the scholarship, New Hope Treatment Centers decided to award two! Our first two recipients are: Ms. Omega White and Ms. Ny’Geria Dickerson. Each recipient will be awarded $5,000 toward their college tuition.
Congratulations to the awardees and we wish them great success as they begin their college journeys!
I am committed to giving back to my community and to those less fortunate. I am also committed to becoming the best version of myself and continuing the legacy of college educated women in my family. I plan to major in Biology with a minor in Women and Gender studies at the College of Charleston in hopes of later becoming an OB/GYN. I am extremely grateful and honored to be the first recipient of the Dr. George Orvin Scholarship.
Ms. Ny’Geria graduated from her high school with a 3.7 GPA and is currently attending York Technical College. She is currently enrolled in York Technical’s nursing program and working towards her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.
