New Hope Announces Leadership Changes
Effective January 22, 2014, Dr. Orvin, founder of New Hope Treatment Centers, resigned his position as Chairman of the Board after 30 years. His accomplishments in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry are notable, inclusive of the book Understanding the Adolescent, which is still read by many newcomers to this field. Dr. Orvin will remain on as a Director and Chairman Emeritus.
Jay Orvin, Dr. Orvin’s son who has served as President/CEO of New Hope Treatment Centers, as well as President/CEO of Carolina Choice, LLC since April 2012, will assume the role of Chairman of the Board. He will continue to serve as CEO of both New Hope and Carolina Choice.
Simultaneous with these changes, Ed Irby has agreed to serve as President of New Hope and Carolina Choice. As many of you know, he and the Orvins have known each other since 1981 and have worked closely in the behavioral health field in the past. Ed was the founder of The Pines RTC in Virginia; became CEO of Alternative Behavioral Services while working with Dr. Ron Dozoretz and served in many different capacities for ValueOptions. During the past seven years he founded FasPsych (a videotel staffing solution company in Scottsdale, AZ) and has served as COO for two other companies similar to ours. He brings to us years of experience as both a provider of many levels of behavioral health services and also as a MCO leader/operator.
It is with great confidence that we believe Dr. Orvin’s legacy will continue under the capable direction of Mr. Orvin and Mr. Irby. Please join me in welcoming these individuals into their new roles with New Hope.
