New Hope Happenings – Update From Our Executive Director

March 25, 2022 New Hope Happenings

March 23rd, 2022

Dear Parent/Legal Guardian/ Treatment Ally:

I wanted to provide some updates regarding happenings at New Hope Carolinas.
We continue to have ZERO positive Covid-19 cases with our residents and staff! We continue to require masks and other protocols, but things are moving in a very positive direction. The Yorke County COVID-19 positivity rate is sustaining at below 5% so we are continuing to move towards more normal operations.
Outdoor family visitations have resumed effective 3/14. If you have questions/concerns regarding how to facilitate these visitations, please reach out to your assigned therapist. We STRONGLY encourage you to routinely visit your child.
We are sending all of our female residents out to get their hair done at a local beauty shop over the next month. This used to be a routine activity we would do prior to COVID, and given the dropping numbers, we will be restarting. It is so important that our residents feel good about themselves physically which will help them emotionally!
We will also be restarting Therapeutic Home Visits (THTs) beginning the weekend of April 1st. These home visits are scheduled through your child’s care team, led by their therapist. These are absolutely critical for your youth/loved one to be prepared for an eventual successful transition out of the program. Research shows that increased home visits are linked directly to positive long-term outcomes for kids coming out of residential programs. Every youth upon returning from a THT will be placed in a short quarantine to ensure we mitigate risk of COVID-19 spread.
We are also pursuing some campus beautification projects including new paint and a new layout and items for our outdoor courtyards. Our residents will also be engaged in a contest to draw/design our new School logo!
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s care. We get up every day working to provide them with the best care possible.

Take care!

Sincerely,

Matt Simon, LMFT

Executive Director
