New Hope Treatment Centers Aces Federal Audit

December 13, 2023 New Hope Happenings

Rock Hill, S.C., December 13, 2023 – New Hope Treatment Centers in Rock Hill, S.C. underwent a standard Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) audit last week.

A three-day audit of the facility occurs every few years. It focused on record reviews, community observations, an overview of Human Resources, and staff and resident interviews. Spearheaded by Performance Improvement/Quality Initiatives Supervisor Joey Funderburk, LMSW, LCSWA, RHIT, leadership and our PRTF team members were fully engaged and ensured that the auditors were given everything they needed. After all was said and done, New Hope received zero citations.

“During the end of the review, the auditors told me something that I wanted to share,” said Funderburk. “Between the two of them, over the years they have been a part of 1000’s of audits from Maine to Hawaii and all places in between auditing facilities for Federal Medicaid compliance. They shared that there have been very few audits that have come out with zero compliance issues. They acknowledged that what we do at New Hope day in and out is tough, and that it was a breath of fresh air to have a facility that really seems to want to grow and learn, doing what is best for the residents that we serve. The leadership team gets to see everyone’s passion, compassion, and talents every day.”

“I can safely say that this was the fastest exit survey I’ve had in my career,” said Chief Operations Officer Matt Simon, MA, LMFT. “They heaped praise on the work being done at New Hope. Huge kudos to Joey for quarterbacking over the three days. These results are an affirmation of the great work being done at our flagship PRTF. Thank you all!”
