New Hope Hero – Dr. Malisa Shuler

November 2, 2023 New Hope Heroes

Rock Hill, S.C., November 2, 2023 – One of New Hope’s newest employees has been nothing short of heroic since joining the company over the summer.

Malisa S. Shuler, PsyD, was named New Hope’s Residential Director of North Carolina in August and has been insurmountable ushering in our new Dallas, NC facility. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, her master’s degree in forensic psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology-DC, and her Doctor of Psychology in Behavioral Health Leadership from Walden University.

Prior to joining the team at New Hope, Dr. Shuler amassed nearly a decade of experience working with children and families in behavioral and mental health services in the non-profit sector. Dr. Shuler has dedicated her career to serving at-risk youth and their families and ensuring they have access to quality programs and services to overcome their unique challenges.

It’s an interesting position to be in as a “leader of leaders” bringing on a new leader who simply just gets it. It brings an overwhelming feeling of joy and naturally a lot of relief followed by ongoing pride. Dr. Shuler has done just that, bringing joy, tremendous bride and relieving all those that have met her and worked with her in her short time. The transition has been seamless, and she has stepped in to lead New Hope’s expansion.

New Hope’s COO Matt Simon, MA, LMFT, NADD-CC is in the position of being a leader of leaders. Having brought Dr. Shuler aboard, that decision was quickly validated, and he didn’t hold back singing her praise.

“She is hungry, humble and smart. She anticipates what needs to get done and does it but isn’t scared to ask questions if she’s stuck. She embodies the company culture but also puts her own spin and her own unique flavor into everything. She is supremely coachable but also independent and strong. She’s professional but doesn’t take herself too seriously. She advocates for what she needs and does it with class and grace. Bottom line, she’s just crushing it at New Hope. As a leader, when you find a leader with the same vision of what it takes to be great, it’s a real blessing.”

We’ve all been blessed to add today’s New Hope hero, Dr. Malisa Shuler, to our team of life changers. The leadership and excellence she has shown in just a few short months has everyone excited for what the future holds.
